I was wondering if this was ever going to be addressed.

The great folks over at ComingSoon.net/ SSH had a chance to sit down and ask Edward Norton exclusively about his upcoming movie- Leaves of Grass and all things Marvel. Anyone who was at Comic-Con the year prior to the release of Louis Letterier’s The Incredible Hulk will remember that Mr. Norton played a big role in that movie. He co-wrote the script and helped (I believe) keep that movie on par with what a Hulk movie should’ve been. I mean the man is a Hulk fiend like I’m a Batman fiend. It wasn’t a secret that Norton & Marvel Studios were butting heads on a few details and that his return for a sequel was highly unlikely. This left several questions in play as this was after Marvel Studios had announced their plans regarding the Avengers movie projects that would lead to the team-up movie. It has been rumored for some time now (but in no way confirmed) that the Hulk would be one of the protagonists in the film. Seriously, how can you make an Avengers movie and not have the Hulk in it? It’s really the only loose end that Marvel Studios had at this point in regards to the coming together of the Avengers.

For those of you that did not know, Norton had some issues with the final cut of Louis Letterier’s movie, which he had co-written, but when asked in the years since then, he has been somewhat dismissive of the idea of returning. In the interview Norton is asked if he’s had any communication with Marvel Studios since then. His response was as follows:

“Yeah, to some degree, through my agents,” he told us, “But there’s always been an agenda I think to unspool a lot of the Marvel Universe and then come back… I think they’ve got a lot of new stuff that they’re rolling out and then I think at some point they’re going to figure out how they want to get around to ‘Avengers.’”

“The main guy I had a beef with there left anyways, as always happens,” he admitted. “As David Mamet said, ‘Just wait ‘em out cause they’ll be gone, and you’ll still be there.’”
